Florida East Coast Railway Picture #4

Work Camp at Marathon Key
Picture from the Leynes Family Archives © 1930

The handwriting of Velma Crevasse Leynes, reads:
"Camp at Marathon Key, Fla. East Coast Comp. Brother Arthur (Crevasse), was with the construction Co. Brother John (Crevasse), was Captian (Engineer?), on work train and took the first train into Key West. Later was Captain or Conductor on the (palatial?) passenger trains. Had to back to Key West (Islamorada), when the terrible hurricane struck and so many 1st War (WWI) veterans were drowned."

Great find!
Indeed, the picture showing the two story building is Marathon.
Thanks for sharing it with me.
